HOW I WORK

MY APPROACH

EVERY COLLAGE BEGINS WITH AN IDEA. IT CAN BE AN INNER CONFLICT, AN EMOTION, A FEELING, A CURRENT SITUATION, A POLITICAL TOPIC OR A FUTURISTIC SCENARIO. BEFORE I START I USUALLY HAVE A PARTICULAR IMAGE ON MY MIND OF HOW TO PUT MY IDEA INTO PRACTICE. DURING THE WORK (5 TO 2O HRS PER COLLAGE) I TYPICALLY DEVIATE FROM MY IMAGINATION AND MY COLLAGES DEVELOP INTO SOMETHING PARTIALLY NEW.

My Workspace and equipment

MY ART IS CREATED WITH VERY SIMPLE MEANS (STANDARD SCISSORS, A 10 EURO PAINT BOX WITH A DRIED UP OPAQUE WHITE, CRAYONS, GLUE STICK AND A COINCIDENTAL SELECTION OF MAGAZINES). FROM MY POINT OF VIEW HIGHTECH EQUIPMENT IS NOT NECESSARY, AS DIAMONDS ARE FORMED IN THE DIRT.

VIDEO PRODUCTION

TO FULFILL THE HIGHEST QUALITY STANDARDS AS FAR AS VIDEO RECORDING IS CONCERNED I USE A SELF-CONCEIVED TRIPOD WITH A SOPHISTICATED CAMCORDER MOUNTING BRACKET. 😉

MY STYLE

I WOULD DESCRIBE MY STYLE AS COLOURFUL, OVERSTIMULATING, CONFUSING, MULTIFACETTED, DEEP, FANCY AND KITCHY. MY BASIC INTENTION IS TO UNITE MANY SINGLE MOTIVES TO ONE ENGAGING ARTWORK, IN WHICH THE VIEWER IS SUPPOSED TO PERCEIVE HOMOGENOUS, COLORED AREAS. AS HE IS NOT ABLE TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN PAINT AND PAPER SHREDS IN A SHORT GLIMPSE, HE HAS TO TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THE COLLAGE. THUS HE CAN GRASP ALL OF THE DETAILS AND THE ART STARTS TO UNPACK ITSELF.
